The UCLA Eating Disorders Program is currently conducting a study of individuals with anorexia nervosa. We are interested in understanding patterns of visual and emotional information processing using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI.)

  • 18- to 30-year old females and males with anorexia
  • We will allow those with depression or anxiety (other than OCD)

New Study Confirms Social Anxiety Disorder Is Not Simply Shyness

Authors of a new study have found that social anxiety disorder is not just medicalized shyness. Of those youth with the disorder, only a fraction consider themselves shy, and they are not more likely to be getting treatment compared to their peers, questioning the perception that they are receiving unnecessary medications.
