We Have Each Other

We Have Each Other

Millions of Americans are affected by some form of depression, and many more suffer from anxiety. The prevalence of these issues in the entrepreneurial community is not surprising, considering an entrepreneur's high-risk, uncertain nature. Entrepreneurship often requires long hours, low pay before profits start coming in, and high expectations to create a successful company. When you combine this with our culture's obsession with success and perfectionism, it's no wonder so many feel overwhelmed or unable to achieve their goals. Luckily there are ways that entrepreneurs can overcome these feelings!

I am someone who has suffered from these issues during my time as an entrepreneur. When someone like me goes through these phases throughout my life, you feel very lonely, and nobody understands what you're going through. They see your milestone posts on social media, and they congratulate you and cheer you on, yet it only makes the emptiness much harder to fill. It took me a while to understand what I was going through, and I could find ways to cope with my disorders. Networking and meeting other entrepreneurs at the same stage were beneficial. It made me realize that I was not alone and that many other people are going through the same thing. We connected and shared our downfalls and triumphs, and it was easier to relate to them. Every once in a while, we check up on each other and make sure that we are there.

Finding ADAA and using their resources was one of the most significant steps I took in helping myself live a better life. Whether you're looking to find a better understanding of our mental health, find an ADAA therapist, or you want to attend one of the ADAA events, we can all see this information in one place.
