The ADAA Board of Directors has defined these committees:
The purpose of the Awards Committee is to implement organizational awards as defined by the ADAA Board of Directors. The committee or designate subcommittees will promote awards, encourage applications, review submissions, and recommend nominees to the Board of Directors for approval. Only members in good standing are eligible to serve on this committee. See the current ADAA Awards [2]
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to increase membership of clinicians and researchers by working with ADAA staff to develop recruitment campaigns, improve retention, evaluate member benefits, consider new membership categories, and recommend new activities consistent with the needs of the membership. Only members in good standing are eligible to serve on this committee.
The Professional Education Committee explores ways to provide high-quality educational material and continuing education to members as well as the broad professional community. The professional education and development initiatives should meet the needs of training and developing a diverse professional community in the area of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders. The committee is also responsible for reviewing and recommending different delivery mechanisms. Only members in good standing are eligible to serve on this committee.
The purpose of the Public Education Committee is use the content and expertise of ADAA members to improve public education and outreach about anxiety and anxiety-related disorders. Only members in good standing are eligible to serve on this committee.
Comprised of mid- and senior-level basic and clinical researchers, the Scientific Council contributes scientific expertise and mentorship, actively grows membership, and encourages participation in ADAA among colleagues, students, and fellows. Committee members are committed to the organization and participate in projects that maintain ADAA’s leading edge in research, dissemination, treatment, and advocacy.
