ADAA will limit the number for any individual to two accepted oral session presentations (symposia, roundtables, workshops, individual oral) or four poster presentations. (Note: Nonpresenting coauthors do not count toward the individual participation limit.)
All presenters are encouraged to attend the entire conference for educational and networking purposes. To allow you and your colleagues to make an informed decision about participation, please be aware of the ADAA registration policy:
In the event that presenters need to cancel after they have registered, registration cancellation notice must be received in writing by March 1, 2014. Cancellations by telephone are not accepted.
Every submission must include a session abstract and three educational objectives, which are required for peer review and compliance with sponsor guidelines for CE and CME credits. The educational objectives are statements that clearly describe what an attendee will learn, know, or be able to do as a result of the proposed program. The objectives should focus on the learner and be written with action verbs that describe measurable behaviors.
To write objectives that comply with CE and CME guidelines, only use verbs such as analyze, apply, assess, create, compare, demonstrate, describe, discuss, explain, plan, practice, predict, recognize, summarize, use, utilize, etc.
Examples
Do not use these words when writing objectives: understand, learn, know, appreciate, become aware of, become familiar with. You will be asked to rewrite your objectives if you include these words. Do not write “Participants will learn about OCD.” or “ Participants will understand how to treat anxiety and depression.”
All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on the basis of quality, merit, and the criteria listed below. If accepted, presenters may be asked to incorporate changes recommended by reviewers. Review sample abstracts [3].
Criteria for Review
All presenters must complete and submit disclosure and conflict-of-interest information online by the specified deadline. Those who do not submit this information or resolve any conflict prior to the conference will not be allowed to present.
You may request an electronic confirmation when your individual oral or poster submission is complete; or you may print out the completed symposia, roundtable, or workshop submission for your records. Authors will be contacted if submissions are incomplete or did not follow the submission guidelines, and they will be given an opportunity to complete them prior to the deadline. Incomplete submissions will be rejected immediately. All presenters will receive notification about acceptance by e-mail and are expected to respond to e-mail confirmations by the deadlines specified. It is your responsibility to make sure your browser is set to accept the e-mails.
Please review the online submission process before you begin, and be prepared to upload documents at the time of submission.
ADAA provides the following AV equipment in all session rooms: laptop, LCD projector, screen, and podium with microphone.
Attendees appreciate receiving copies of slides and other materials about your presentation. ADAA encourages you to consider this and suggests the following options:
- You are responsible for any copying and shipping costs incurred; ADAA will not make copies of handouts.
Deadline: January 30, 2014
If you choose to withdraw your presentation, please write or conference [at] adaa [dot] org (e-mail ADAA) by January 30, 2014. The designated contact person must notify all copresenters and coauthors about the withdrawn presentation. Withdrawn sessions will not be reinstated.
