Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Social Anxiety Study
The goals of this study are to examine the efficacy of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) as an intervention for social anxiety and to identify the neural mechanisms underlying changes associated with this form of attention training. People with social anxiety disorder will be offered the MBSR course for free in a small group format. We will conduct assessments at pre/post/3-month follow-up time points in order to examine changes related to the meditation practice.
The long-term objective of this research is to contribute to the scientific evaluation of meditation interventions that hold promise for improving health and well-being in clinical and non-clinical populations.
