kids anxiety attack

Please ,,need help now,,my son is having a anxiety attack now,,,,he is scared of something he saw in tv ( a ghost) it seems silly but,,he can breath,he is crying ,he wants to fo to the hospital because he think he is going to faint,,we will have our first dr appt next week but ,,he wants to talk with a conselor noww by phone,,,what should i do ?

I just read your post because I just joined. I hope you found someone to help your son. My daughter is 10 and she has the same problem.. She was feeling that exact way last weekend. I have a new psychiatrist and a great treatment center that we have started taking her to. I would love to hear from you and what you have tried. Maybe we can compare notes???

My son is 10 and has separation anxiety disorder and is unable to attend school at this time (we try every day though). I have anxiety myself, so I can empathize with my son, but still very hard to deal with him not making too many improvements since 2 years ago. Yes, I agree, good psych and psychiatrist, if you are in school get a counselor from you county school program. My son has a great counselor and I credit her for a lot of my son's improvement. Remember to breathe when you get anxious....play a personal video game, put your ipod on....you need something that you like to distract your thoughts...that may help
