REVISED SUBMISSION DEADLINES!
SILVER SPRING,
MD (JULY 2004) - The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) has
launched its annual 2005 Awards Program that provides awards to stimulate
young investigators, fund research of junior faculty and develop the professional
careers of those interested in anxiety disorders. These programs provide an
opportunity to encourage junior-level professionals to pursue their interests
in treating and conducting research on anxiety disorders. To date, the ADAA
Awards Program has given more than 75 travel awards and 15 research grants,
totaling approximately $700,000.
The Awards Program
was established to fund anxiety disorders research and acquaint students and
professionals with the activities of the organization. Funding for the ADAA
Awards Program is made possible through support provided to the ADAA by these
members of the ADAA Corporate Advisory Council: Eli Lilly & Company, Forest
Laboratories, Pfizer, Inc., Solvay Pharmaceuticals, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Fifteen award winners
are selected to attend ADAA 25th Annual Conference, March 17 - 20, 2005, in
Seattle, Washington. The ADAA Annual Conference is the only meeting devoted
exclusively to anxiety disorders and provides a unique forum to learn about
scientific advances and current practices in the diagnosis and treatment of
these disorders. This year's theme is "Special Populations" and
focuses on how anxiety disorders impact populations such as children, the
elderly, minorities, women, and other disadvantaged groups.
