ADAA Announces 26th Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, March 23-26, 2006
Understanding Risk & Resilience in Anxiety Disorders:
Implications for Research and Clinical Care

Silver Spring, MD (January 2, 2006) - The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) will hold its 26th Annual Conference, entitled "Understanding Risk and Resilience in Anxiety Disorders: Implications for Research and Clinical Care," at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, FL on March 23-26, 2006. This year's conference focuses on individuals at risk for the development of an anxiety disorder as a result of a variety of biological, psychological, or environmental factors as well as those already manifesting difficulties and in addition, explores factors that affect the response to treatment and chronicity of these disorders.

The conference provides education about the nature, management and treatment of anxiety disorders; this information is geared toward health care professionals, individuals with anxiety disorders and their families, and the general public. These meetings also serve as a forum for the presentation of the latest research and practices available for anxiety disorders.

Attendees include psychiatrists, psychologists, academic researchers, clinicians, therapists, family and general counselors, and individuals interested in self-help. The conference includes a broad range of half-day workshops, training sessions, research sessions, clinical sessions, and consumer-oriented education/self-help sessions. Leading national and international experts will discuss topics including PTSD, phobias, panic disorder, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.

In addition, there will be seven symposia, each devoted to the in-depth exploration of the following topics:

  • Fibromyalgia: A Disorder at the Medicine and Psychiatry Interface
Sponsored by an Unrestricted Educational Grant from Pfizer
  • Doing What's Best for Patients with Pain, Depression and Anxiety
