Repetitive Behaviors in Children and Adolescents
University of Alabama, participants need not be in Alabama
Principle Investigator: Michelle DeRamus, PhD candidate
Description of Study: Researchers at the University of Alabama Psychology Department are conducting a study of repetitive behaviors in children and adolescents with obessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) as part of a graduate student dissertation. This study examines repetitive behaviors, social interactions, and fears or worries in children with OCD and will provide valuable information for future research and clinical interventions with families of children with OCD. For example, the results from this project may be applied to developing individual and group interventions for children and adolescents with OCD.
Your child will not be contacted by the researchers. A parent will provide all information for this study. Participation involves completing a 45-minute telephone interview and then filling out a survey regarding your child’s behavior, which will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. You may choose to complete an Internet-based version of the survey or a paper-and-pencil version of the survey. If you choose to complete the Internet-based version, you will receive an ID number and password for the survey. If you choose to complete the paper-and-pencil version, a packet will be mailed to you containing the survey materials. Once you have completed the survey, you will receive a $5 gift certificate to a major bookstore in your area as a thank you for your time.
Eligibility Criteria: Families with children between the ages of 7 and 17 years of age. Children must have OCD.
