SUPPORT U.S. MILITARY WOMEN

U.S. military womanI’d like to show my support for the women in our military.
Women make up about 15 percent of the military, and many experience the stresses of serving in a war zone. Nearly one-third of soldiers in a war zone will develop PTSD, or posttraumatic stress disorder, an anxiety disorder that affects twice as many women as men.

  • I will donate $20, and ADAA will send an inspirational calendar to a woman on active duty.
  • I’d like to pay tribute to a woman in my life. ADAA will send her a card explaining that my $20 donation for a calendar was made in her honor.

Women Talk: Open the Dialogue — Triumph Over Anxiety Disorders features real-life stories of women who have conquered their anxieties and fears. It offers hope and strength and tips to manage the symptoms of unrelenting, persistent, and chronic anxiety.

Symptoms of PTSD, including nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance behavior, and emotional numbness, may cause severe depression and anxiety for months or years after the precipitating event. Untreated PTSD and depression increase the risk of substance and alcohol abuse, as well as cardiovascular disease and other physical health problems.

How your donation helps
Many women in the military suffering from PTSD feel alone and ashamed, whether they’re deployed far away or serving close to home. They often find it difficult to talk about their experiences or get the help they need, unaware that PTSD is treatable.

Thank you. Your donation helps women in the military get the help, especially when they face fear, stress, and unrelenting anxiety.
